Key Responsibilities

  • •Design, build, and operate detection core to Abnormal’s products from design through rollout, monitoring, and maintenance.
  • •Own detection projects end-to-end, scoping ambiguous problems, defining milestones, and delivering reliably.
  • •Analyze missed attacks by studying real attack samples to identify underlying patterns and create detection enhancements or new systems.
  • •Write and tune detection logic using scored signals and attributes, add new pipeline signals, and drive launches with a strong focus on minimizing false positives.
  • •Build and evaluate LLM-based detection agents and measure precision/recall with evaluation tooling; participate in on-call and resolve escalations.

Key Requirements

  • •3+ years of professional software engineering experience shipping and operating production systems.
  • •Strong software engineering fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, system design basics, testing, debugging, and clean code.
  • •Strong Python proficiency, with comfort learning new languages and frameworks as needed.
  • •Comfort with SQL and reasoning over large datasets for data analysis to find signals.
  • •A detection/adversarial mindset and strong written and verbal communication in remote, distributed teams.
