Job Summary

Build and optimize TikTok’s core feed recommendation systems that power the “For You” and “Following” experiences. Implement large-scale machine learning algorithms for user acquisition and retention across retrieval, ranking, and re-ranking phases, partner with product and data teams to refine models, and run experiments with rigorous A/B testing. Collaborate across time zones and with infrastructure teams to improve end-to-end ML system efficiency and stability.

Key Responsibilities

•Implement large-scale machine learning algorithms to improve new user acquisition efficiency and retention across ranking phases including retrieval, ranking, and re-ranking.
•Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, data scientists, and product engineers to formulate problems and design/refine machine learning algorithms.
•Run regular A/B tests, analyze results, and iterate on algorithms accordingly.
•Develop and maintain end-to-end machine learning systems and work with infrastructure teams to improve efficiency and stability.

Key Requirements

•Hands-on experience in one or more areas such as recommender systems, machine learning, deep learning, data mining, NLP, causal inference, or multimodal machine learning.
•Experience leading projects and collaborating with teams across different time zones.
•Strong programming skills in Python and/or C/C++ with a deep understanding of data structures and algorithms.
•Familiarity with the architecture and implementation of at least one mainstream ML framework such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or MXNet.
•Good communication and teamwork skills with a strong passion for learning and tackling challenging problems.
