Key Responsibilities

•Lead multi-quarter technical initiatives from problem framing through rollout (e.g., trace aggregation APIs, autoscaling, and query engine improvements).
•Own the architecture of core Tempo components: ingestion, storage, query, and metrics generation; drive design reviews and document the rationale.
•Design APIs for humans and agents; shape Tempo interfaces to support downstream products and AI-driven workflows.
•Drive operational excellence with concrete SLOs and automation to reduce toil; enable safe rollouts and proactive incident prevention.
•Mentor engineers, contribute to on-call responses, and engage with open source communities to guide Tempo’s direction.

Salary: CAD 186,368 - 223,642 annually

•Technical leadership with a track record of leading complex, multi-quarter initiatives that spanned design, delivery, and operations.
•Deep systems experience building and operating distributed data systems in production (ingestion pipelines, storage engines, query execution, or similar).
•Strong Go, or a path to it; deep experience in other systems languages (Rust, C, C++) translates well.
•Operational mindset: owned production services, reduced toil, and treated SLOs as a product feature.
•Customer focus and pragmatism: break complex problems into short feedback loops and iterate to a MVP.
