Job Summary

Support WSP’s Power Delivery Overland Park Substation team by assisting with due diligence, design, and construction efforts for transmission and distribution substations. Help collect and analyze substation component data, assist with procurement package development, and support IFR/IRC design and review workflows. Contribute to electrical design tasks such as single-line diagrams, equipment sizing, grounding and lightning protection calculations, and produce clear project documentation while following safety and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

•Assist with collecting, compiling, and analyzing data for substation components, procurement package development, and design review processes.
•Help with basic electrical engineering design work, including single-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, substation layout, grounding grid design, and lightning protection.
•Assist with electrical design tasks such as equipment sizing, load calculations, feeder sizing, voltage drop, grounding, lighting circuits and controls, and power distribution.
•Generate complete, accurate documentation using electronic systems, drawings, and field/work site notebook/logs.
•Comply with safety guidelines, applicable regulations/standards, and assigned training; perform additional responsibilities as needed.

Key Requirements

•Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
•0 to 1 years of relevant post-education electrical engineering experience.
•Excellent research skills with an analytical mindset.
•General understanding of electrical engineering applied to design engineering of large capital projects.
•Familiarity with relevant engineering and electrical construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
