Key Responsibilities

  • •Define and evolve Atlassian Design Language, including tokens, themes, interaction patterns, and components.
  • •Systemise design-language decisions to support consistent, accessible UI generation for both people and agents.
  • •De-risk complex visual and systems problems using high-fidelity explorations, functional prototypes, and clear recommendations accounting for edge cases, accessibility, and implementation constraints.
  • •Partner deeply across product design, engineering, content design, brand, and platform teams to translate system concepts into reusable guidance and capabilities.
  • •Raise the bar for craft, context, and adoption through critique, usage guidance, and support for teams adopting new ADS capabilities.

Key Requirements

  • •5+ years of experience in product design, visual systems, and design systems
  • •Demonstrated excellence in visual design craft, including visual communication and UI design
  • •Hands-on experience designing and delivering design tokens, themed systems, and scalable component libraries
  • •Strong systems thinking to convert conceptual direction into structured, well-documented, production-ready designs
  • •Practical AI fluency, including frequent use of AI tools for exploration/prototyping and ability to collaborate with agents to improve agentic output quality
