Build and operate Conductor Quantum’s trapped-ion quantum control stack end to end—from ion loading and Doppler/sideband cooling to calibrating and benchmarking single- and two-qubit gates. Automate calibration loops with software and machine learning so the system runs unattended, while diagnosing drift, micromotion, and fidelity degradation. Partner with physicists, ML engineers, and backend developers to integrate hardware, software, and data pipelines into a scalable platform for researchers and AI agents.

Key Responsibilities

•Develop ion loading and cooling routines to reach cold, ordered ion chains with higher reliability and longer chain lifetime.
•Push and calibrate single-qubit and Mølmer-Sørensen two-qubit gates, benchmarking fidelity and identifying sources of error.
•Automate calibration by encoding expert tuning into software and closing the loop with software and machine learning teams.
•Develop and maintain the system performance and control stack, including monitoring/recovery for unattended operation and control software for multiple hardware components.
•Collaborate with physicists, machine learning engineers, and backend developers to integrate hardware, software, and data pipelines into a unified quantum control stack.

•Calibrate and benchmark trapped-ion qubit control, including single-qubit gates and Mølmer-Sørensen two-qubit gates, and identify the source of remaining error.
•Encode expert tuning into software that automates calibration and closes the loop with software/ML teams so calibration recovers without a physicist present.
