Key Responsibilities

•Design and implement scalable backend services and APIs, including distributed systems that power Zillow Showcase and Interactive Floor.
•Own and evolve GraphQL schemas that power consumer-facing experiences across web and mobile, maintaining consistent data contracts.
•Design and operate resilient data pipelines across asynchronous systems (Kafka/event streams), queues, and synchronous service APIs with correctness and fault tolerance.
•Take full production ownership, including on-call participation, proactive monitoring, incident response, and reliability/scalability improvements against service-level metrics.
•Collaborate with Product and UX teams across the stack, author design documents and proposals, and conduct rigorous code reviews to uphold code quality.

•Ability to design reliable distributed systems and make trade-offs between speed and long-term durability.
•Ownership from design through production operations, improving reliability, performance, and quality continuously.
•Strong engineering practices: clean, maintainable code, rigorous code reviews, and clear technical documentation.
