Job Function: Transportation & Fleet Operations

Key Responsibilities

  • •Operate vehicle according to applicable state and federal transportation laws and transport loads safely and on time while obeying traffic laws and safety regulations.
  • •Load and unload equipment by maneuvering truck and trailer into areas, following loading crew signals, and using specialized equipment when warranted.
  • •Maintain and deliver required shipping documentation, including signed invoices and shipping bills of lading, to the appropriate staff once delivery routes are complete.
  • •Perform routine service on trucks as needed (e.g., checking oil, water, gasoline, and air) and report maintenance malfunctions to the Shipping Supervisor.
  • •Arrange trailers in shipping yards for optimum loading patterns and perform other related duties as assigned.

Key Requirements

  • •Hold either a commercial drivers license (Class A CDL) or a chauffeur’s license depending on state, appropriate for the vehicle weight.
  • •Must pass background and drug testing as required by federal and/or state DOT regulations, and a DOT physical (trucks driven are over 10k lbs).
  • •Must be at least 21 years old to operate a company vehicle.
  • •Strong interpersonal and customer service skills to speak professionally and courteously with customers and staff at delivery points.
  • •Be able to lift and move up to 40 pounds, and handle prolonged periods sitting in a trailer cab; safety-sensitive clean-shaven requirements may apply.
