Job Summary

Lead a team of surfacing artists to ensure quality and deadlines for environments and props. You’ll brief the team, communicate feedback, and translate the Production Designer’s vision into stylized and photorealistic surface aesthetics. Work across modern surfacing workflows (USD, Substance Painter/Designer, Houdini, RenderMan, RizomUV) and provide shading/technical support while coordinating between input and output departments throughout production.

Key Responsibilities

•Lead a team of surfacing artists by briefing, reviewing work, and providing feedback to meet quality standards and deadlines.
•Implement the show’s look by translating the Production Designer’s vision for environments and props across varied styles.
•Create stylized painted textures and high-end photorealistic textures using photography, materials, and procedural sources.
•Develop procedural materials, filters, and generators in Substance Designer for use in Painter and the broader pipeline.
•Act as a link between the Supervisor and the team and provide technical/shading support to Lighting and FX while supporting troubleshooting tickets.

Key Requirements

•6+ years in VFX or animation, with 1+ year specifically in animation.
•Strong artistic and/or technical aptitude for 3D animation, including shading, texturing, and optimizing assets.
•Expertise in UV creation.
•Knowledge of skinning, rigging, lighting, and optimization.
•Experience with Mari, Maya, Substance Designer/Painter, and Arnold Render; high English level; Spanish desirable.
