Key Responsibilities

  • •Partner with business, engineering, and technology leaders to develop and execute Eaton’s global intellectual property strategy aligned to innovation and business objectives.
  • •Drive identification, protection, development, maintenance, exploitation, and optimization of the IP portfolio worldwide; provide counsel on IP risks, opportunities, and innovation trends.
  • •Lead freedom-to-operate, infringement risk assessments, competitive patent landscape analysis, and IP dispute management (including validity analyses and post-grant proceedings).
  • •Lead and support complex technology transactions, including structuring and negotiating IP provisions in commercial, supply chain, engineering, and partnership agreements to enable commercialization.
  • •Lead global IP operations and partner with distributed IP professionals and outside counsel; manage performance, budgeting, staffing, and process improvements.

Key Requirements

  • •Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • •Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
  • •Minimum 15 years of experience in intellectual property law supporting innovation-intensive businesses.
  • •Registered U.S. Patent Attorney (or equivalent patent qualification in a major jurisdiction).
  • •Experience managing patent portfolios, technology transactions, licensing, and IP risk, including within a multinational organization or major law firm.
