Job Summary

Join Whatnot’s Legal team as Employment Counsel to lead employment legal support across Ireland, the UK, Germany, Japan, Australia, and future markets. Partner with People and business leaders on hiring, performance, investigations, restructurings, works council and collective obligations, and cross-border compliance. Advise on GDPR and employment privacy, draft and review employment agreements and separation documents, manage disputes, and help build scalable employment programs and frameworks for international expansion.

Key Responsibilities

•Advise People and managers on international employment matters including recruiting, compensation, performance management, internal investigations, leaves of absence, and discrimination/harassment issues.
•Develop and scale compliant employment programs, policies, and practices, and help shape employment strategy to support growth internationally.
•Draft and review employment-related documents, including employment agreements, equity and compensation documentation, settlement agreements, restrictive covenants, and separation documents.
•Advise on GDPR and employment-related privacy matters, including candidate and employee data processing.
•Supervise outside counsel and manage employment disputes and pre-litigation matters, supporting cross-border expansion with compliant employment frameworks.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: EUR 173,000 - 251,000 annually

Key Requirements

•Qualified to practice law in Ireland and/or the UK with 8+ years of experience advising on employment-related issues (in-house experience preferred).
•Deep expertise in Irish and UK employment law, with experience advising on employment matters across additional jurisdictions.
•Experience advising on cross-border employment matters including works councils, collective consultation obligations, investigations, global mobility, restructurings, and international HR compliance.
•Experience with GDPR compliance and advising on global candidate and employee privacy matters.
•Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to provide practical, commercial employment advice under time pressure.
