Job Summary

Perform licensed DOT inspections, preventative maintenance, and light to follow-up repairs on light-, medium-, and heavy-duty trucks and trailers in a mobile/field environment. Diagnose electrical, brake, cooling, engine, diesel steering, transmissions, and related systems using test instruments and handheld tools, complete DOT paperwork, and document findings via a proprietary TRAIT app on an iOS device. Maintain parts inventory, operate a company service vehicle, and comply with OSHA, EPA, and DOT.

Key Responsibilities

•Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections, and follow-up repairs on trucks and trailers in a mobile/field environment.
•Diagnose, adjust, and repair vehicle systems including electrical/brake/cooling, starters/alternators, engine electronics, diesel steering, engines (gas/diesel), and transmissions.
•Inspect, test, and road test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and verify proper operation.
•Manage parts inventory and equipment on a company-issued service truck, including periodic reconciliation.
•Document work performed and complete DOT and other forms using the company process and iOS device/TRAIT application.

Key Requirements

•High school diploma/GED with 3 years of related experience (or an equivalent combination such as additional discipline education/certifications or 5 years’ experience).
•Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary to perform required job duties.
•Obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification T8 (PMI) within 18 months.
•Pass DOT-regulated pre-employment background screening and DOT physical prior to employment.
•Hold a current and valid DOT medical card with sufficient validity remaining (or complete a DOT physical if needed) and maintain a valid driver’s license/Driver Qualification File.
