Job Summary

Build and improve TikTok’s global e-commerce recommendation and search systems using advanced machine learning. You’ll research retrieval and recommendation algorithms, develop large-scale models for commodity, live stream, and short-video recommendations, and design user interest modeling to surface latent preferences. The role also applies ML to search ranking, natural language and video understanding, plus trust and safety risk control to identify malicious sellers/influencers and content violations.

Key Responsibilities

•Research cutting-edge machine learning algorithms such as retrieval and recommendation algorithms.
•Help build large-scale e-commerce recommendation algorithms and systems for commodities, live streams, and short video recommendations.
•Develop long- and short-term user interest models and design algorithms to explore latent interests from large-scale data.
•Apply machine learning to improve business scenarios including search ranking, natural language understanding, and video understanding.
•Use ML for trust and safety, including risk control and content safety to detect malicious sellers/influencers and product/video/live-stream violations.

Key Requirements

•BS/MS/PhD background in Software Development, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
•Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
•Strong foundation in machine learning and deep learning, including NLP (Natural Language Processing) and personalization.
•Exceptional coding skills with solid knowledge of data structures and algorithms.
•Proficiency in Linux development environments.
•Prior experience in search, recommendation, or advertisement algorithms.
•Familiarity with e-commerce businesses.
