Job Summary

Lead WSP’s ecology office in Bristol, partnering with the Regional Director to plan workload, support team wellbeing, and oversee technical quality. Produce and contribute to commercial and technical tenders, guide and mentor junior team members, and collaborate with other WSP disciplines to grow engagement with local ecology teams. Bring proven experience delivering survey programmes, ecological impact assessment, and EIA reports, including client support through mitigation and regulator agreement.

Key Responsibilities

•Plan local team workload and individual career/personal development in coordination with the Regional Director, including wellbeing and technical quality oversight.
•Produce and contribute to commercial and technical tenders supporting clients’ projects.
•Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship for junior team members in a positive, professional environment.
•Liaise with other WSP disciplines to increase awareness of and engagement with South West and Wales ecology teams.
•Support own and team growth through use of training and career development budgets.

Key Requirements

•An appropriate academic qualification in a related discipline and membership of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (mentoring and support available for membership progression).
•Experience managing staff and a strong commitment to developing and mentoring individuals.
•Proven ability to support clients by devising and delivering survey programmes, developing pragmatic mitigation, gaining regulator agreement, and supervising on-site implementation.
•Experience with Ecological Impact Assessment and writing EIA Reports.
•Project management experience with medium to large scale projects, plus experience winning work from commercial clients across multiple sectors.
