Job Summary

Perform certified DOT inspections, preventative maintenance, and light repairs for trailers in a dedicated on-site shop. Diagnose, adjust, and repair trailer systems such as brakes, air lines, auxiliary pumps and engines, liftgates, brake chambers, and steering systems, including welding and fabrication as needed. Determine parts required, document repair orders and findings, complete DOT forms, maintain a clean safe workspace, and coordinate with shop team members to support timely repairs.

•Follow safe operating practices and procedures while performing trailer repair and maintenance tasks.
•Independently determine parts required and coordinate with the Shop Parts Department to obtain them.
•Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM) and DOT inspections, and complete follow-up repairs in a shop environment.
•Use hand tools and trailer tools, plus welding equipment, lifts, and jacks to diagnose and repair trailer equipment and systems.
•Document repair orders by uploading photos and findings via company systems, complete DOT forms, and maintain productivity aligned with standard repair times.

Key Requirements

•High School Diploma/GED (or equivalent combination) and 3 years’ experience in a related field (or 5 years’ experience as an alternative combination).

•OEM training and certifications are preferred.
•Required certification: ASE T8 (PMI) (or obtain within 18 months).
•Must be at least 21 years or older due to interstate operating authority commerce regulations.
