Key Responsibilities

  • •Develop and evolve Monzo’s native Android app, focusing on product-led improvements and robust UX.
  • •Collaborate in a small, autonomous product squad with engineers from iOS and backend, researchers, designers, PMs, QA and data scientists.
  • •Balance well-tested, resilient code with the need to move fast and iterate on features used by millions of customers.
  • •Contribute to the overall product goals and influence both what is built and how it is built.
  • •Participate in regular discipline-wide knowledge-sharing sessions and code reviews to improve code quality and processes.

Key Requirements

  • •Must have experience programming in Kotlin and shipping at least one app in the Play Store; strong CS fundamentals.
  • •Product mindset: care about customer outcomes and data-informed decisions; able to balance rapid iteration with well-tested, resilient code.
  • •Experience building Android apps with MVVM architecture, using RxJava, Retrofit and Moshi for API calls; familiarity with Dagger and Coroutines.
  • •Strong collaboration skills to work with cross-disciplinary teams (iOS, Backend, Design, QA, Data Scientists).
  • •Interest in learning new things and adapting to ambiguity in a fast-paced environment.
