Job Summary

Lead ecological planning and delivery for internal and external clients across major UK infrastructure projects in energy, water, renewables, defence, and transport. Produce and technically review ecological assessments (including HRA and Biodiversity Net Gain calculations), drive client consultation, and contribute to bid development. Provide technical leadership, embed innovation and research, and mentor junior staff within AECOM’s Nature business team.

Key Responsibilities

•Lead the planning and delivery of ecological inputs for internal and external clients.
•Produce and technically review ecological assessments including Preliminary Ecological Appraisal, Protected Species Baseline Reports, Ecological Impact Assessments, Habitats Regulations Assessment, and Biodiversity Net Gain Calculations.
•Provide technical leadership to deliver proportionate, pragmatic solutions.
•Lead consultation and engagement with clients and key project stakeholders including planning authorities, statutory bodies, and the public.
•Lead production of bids and tenders for ecological services, and mentor junior staff and peers.

Key Requirements

•Demonstratable experience planning and delivering ecological services on projects in the UK or Ireland.
•Well-developed understanding of relevant wildlife conservation.
•Membership of an appropriate professional institution with evidence of working towards Chartership (e.g., CIEEM or related).
•Excellent field skills in at least one specialist area, including protected species licences.
•Proactive approach to Health and Safety, with experience mentoring and supporting ecology team members.
