Job Summary

Supervise Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) field operations, managing multiple crews and ensuring safety and QA/QC standards are met while projects stay on schedule and within budget. Interpret utility drawings, as-builts, GIS records, and coordinate utility records requests through call centers and owners. Lead advanced utility locating using Ground Penetrating Radar, vacuum excavation, GPS/Total Station surveying, and Trimble tools, and mentor junior field staff.

Key Responsibilities

•Manage and oversee day-to-day operations of multiple field crews.
•Create and maintain field crew schedules across projects in multiple locations.
•Ensure field teams follow safety and quality guidelines and adhere to the field schedule to meet communicated schedule/budget.
•Read and interpret utility drawings, as-builts, GIS files, and utility record data; initiate and document utility records requests with call centers and utility owners/operators.
•Use geophysical equipment and surveying tools (including Ground Penetrating Radar, vacuum excavation, GPS, Total Station, and Trimble tools) to locate utilities; perform field audits and QA/QC on SUE data; troubleshoot issues in the field; mentor junior staff.

Travel: High travel

Salary: USD 85,000 - 110,000 annually

Key Requirements

•BS degree plus 4 years of experience (or demonstrated equivalency).
•SUE and/or private utility locating experience with a commitment to quality and attention to detail.
•Experience understanding SUE practices and procedures in accordance with ASCE 38-02 and 38-22.
•Frequent travel to field locations, including overnight travel.
•Valid U.S. Driver’s License and ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Records review.
