Job Summary

Support protection and control activities on high-voltage substation sites by performing testing and commissioning tasks under limited supervision. Conduct on-site hands-on protective relay testing, document work with field forms and digital tools, and maintain logs and label entries. Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements, troubleshoot on-site issues, and help field teams by resolving challenges and providing informal guidance to junior technicians.

Key Responsibilities

•Perform testing and commissioning tasks for Protection and Control systems on high voltage substations.
•Execute on-site hands-on protective relay testing using relay test sets such as Omicron CMC 256/356 and Doble F6150.
•Document site activities using field forms, digital data tools, and mobile applications, maintaining accuracy in logs and photo documentation.
•Support field teams by resolving challenges on-site and escalating complex technical problems or unexpected conditions to site/project leadership.
•Participate in daily safety briefings and ensure compliance with health and safety protocols, while mentoring junior technicians as needed.

Key Requirements

•High school diploma or equivalent.
•Minimum of 7 years of experience in the electrical testing industry, including medium and high voltage circuit breakers, power transformers, instrument transformers, and substation protection and controls testing.
•Demonstrable expertise with transmission, generation, and distribution relays and protective schemes (e.g., SEL, Basler, Beckwith, GE families).
•Technical skills in protective relay calibration and testing using relay test sets such as Omicron CMC 256/356 and Doble F6150, including static and dynamic testing of microprocessor-based protective relays.
•Proven experience with electrical field testing standards and procedures such as NETA, IEEE, and NFPA, plus ability to read electrical drawings and prepare field logs/reports.
