Key Responsibilities

  • •Perform testing and commissioning tasks for Protection and Control systems on high voltage substations.
  • •Execute on-site hands-on protective relay testing using relay test sets such as Omicron CMC 256/356 and Doble F6150.
  • •Document site activities using field forms, digital data tools, and mobile applications, maintaining accuracy in logs and photo documentation.
  • •Support field teams by resolving challenges on-site and escalating complex technical problems or unexpected conditions to site/project leadership.
  • •Participate in daily safety briefings and ensure compliance with health and safety protocols, while mentoring junior technicians as needed.

Key Requirements

  • •High school diploma or equivalent.
  • •Minimum of 7 years of experience in the electrical testing industry, including medium and high voltage circuit breakers, power transformers, instrument transformers, and substation protection and controls testing.
  • •Demonstrable expertise with transmission, generation, and distribution relays and protective schemes (e.g., SEL, Basler, Beckwith, GE families).
  • •Technical skills in protective relay calibration and testing using relay test sets such as Omicron CMC 256/356 and Doble F6150, including static and dynamic testing of microprocessor-based protective relays.
  • •Proven experience with electrical field testing standards and procedures such as NETA, IEEE, and NFPA, plus ability to read electrical drawings and prepare field logs/reports.
