Key Responsibilities

  • •Perform routine and complex blood and specimen collecting procedures in line with professional standards and regulatory requirements.
  • •Conduct pre- and post-test counselling to patients and family members, explaining blood draw procedures and answering questions.
  • •Identify, prevent and report risks to ensure patient safety, following health and safety protocols and maintaining a sterile work area.
  • •Complete administrative tasks for correct and accurate recording and processing of patient and clinical information.
  • •Ensure utilised stock is accurately recorded and charged, and maintain collaborative working relationships within the multi-disciplinary EC Unit.

Key Requirements

  • •Registered/Enrolled Nurse qualification or a Certificate in Phlebotomy Techniques.
  • •At least 1–2 years of experience after nursing/phlebotomy qualification.
  • •Knowledge of phlebotomy procedures and relevant statutory/regulatory requirements, clinical policies, and procedures.
  • •Ability to conduct patient assessment and provide pre- and post-test counselling.
  • •Experience applying Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) protocols, health and safety principles, and basic life support readiness.
