Key Responsibilities

  • •Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver AI-powered products that change how associates work and how customers interact with Capital One.
  • •Design, develop, test, deploy, and support AI software components spanning foundation model training, LLM inference, agent and multi-agent workflows, similarity search, guardrails, evaluation, governance, and observability.
  • •Leverage open source and SaaS AI technologies (e.g., AWS Ultraclusters, Huggingface, VectorDBs, PyTorch) to build scalable GenAI infrastructure.
  • •Invent and apply foundation model optimization techniques to improve scalability, cost, latency, and throughput for production AI systems.
  • •Lead cost-performance governance and technical design reviews, and mentor other AI engineers to raise organizational technical maturity.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 250,800 - 286,200 annually

Key Requirements

  • •Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, AI, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related fields plus 6+ years developing AI/ML algorithms or technologies, or a Master’s degree plus 4+ years.
  • •6+ years of programming with Python, Go, Scala, CUDA, or Java.
  • •Experience designing, developing, delivering, and supporting complex AI systems.
  • •Experience developing AI/ML for LLM inference, similarity search, vector databases, guardrails, or similar using Python, C++, C#, Java, CUDA, or Golang.
  • •Experience optimizing training and inference software for hardware utilization, latency, throughput, and cost; plus experience building agentic AI systems is preferred.
