Key Responsibilities

  • •Lead the development and implementation of safety programs, health and hygiene initiatives, and environmental control systems that comply with applicable regulations.
  • •Review and oversee contractors’ environmental, health, and safety plans and procedures to support pre-qualification and selection and ensure lifecycle compliance.
  • •Maintain emergency response and preparedness plans and comprehensive health programs that account for public impacts.
  • •Conduct risk assessments and safety audits, identify hazards, and implement corrective actions to mitigate risks.
  • •Investigate workplace incidents and near misses, document findings, recommend corrective actions, analyze safety data for management reports, and mentor junior staff.

Key Requirements

  • •Bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction management (preferred) or trade school/equivalent work experience.
  • •7-10 years of hands-on safety management experience in active mining settings, with experience across both open pit and underground mine development.
  • •Experience with large-scale heavy civil construction and/or mining infrastructure (e.g., haul roads, underground access, waste rock facilities, tailings systems) with related environmental controls.
  • •MSHA certification required; other certifications (e.g., CMSP, CSP, CSMC, CIH) and OSHA 30-hour preferred.
  • •Knowledge of construction and mine safety regulations, plus strong communication, problem solving, and computer skills in MS Office; must pass drug test and background check and have a satisfactory driving record.
