Key Responsibilities

  • •Provide anaesthetic care for ophthalmic procedures including cataract, corneal, oculoplastic, pediatric, glaucoma, and vitreoretinal surgeries.
  • •Perform comprehensive preoperative assessments, including risk stratification, comorbidity optimization, and patient counselling.
  • •Administer general, regional, monitored sedation, and local anaesthetic techniques as appropriate for ophthalmic procedures.
  • •Deliver safe perioperative and postoperative care, including effective pain management and recovery monitoring.
  • •Collaborate with ophthalmologists, nursing staff, and multidisciplinary teams while maintaining clinical governance, infection prevention protocols, patient safety, and accurate documentation.

Key Requirements

  • •MBBS, MBChB, MD, or an equivalent medical degree from a recognized institution.
  • •Completion of a recognized residency or specialty training program in Anaesthesiology.
  • •Eligibility for Department of Health (DOH) Abu Dhabi licensure as a Specialist Anaesthetist.
  • •Minimum 3 years’ post-specialization experience in Anaesthesia.
  • •Competency in sedation techniques, airway management, and regional anaesthesia.
