Key Responsibilities

  • •Collaborate with a globally distributed team and work closely with silicon, cloud, or hardware manufacturers.
  • •Diagnose and resolve kernel issues and take personal responsibility for an Ubuntu Linux kernel flavour.
  • •Submit, review, and apply kernel patches, improving production readiness and performance for new patchsets.
  • •Improve tooling and automation for delivery and test of Ubuntu Linux kernels.
  • •Contribute to kernel areas such as security, reliability, virtualization/abstraction engines, livepatching, and performance-focused variants.

Key Requirements

  • •Outstanding academic track record and an undergraduate degree in Computer Science or STEM (or a compelling alternative path).
  • •Significant programming experience in C and solid background with git.
  • •Broad knowledge of the Linux kernel and kernel subsystems, including demonstrated kernel patching and debugging experience.
  • •Understanding of Linux kernel upstream processes and the release cycle.
  • •Professional written and spoken English, plus the ability to work in a distributed team and travel globally twice a year.
