Key Responsibilities

  • •Serve as the technical subject-matter expert in power electronics controls, leading development and commercialization of early-stage technologies for power electronics applications.
  • •Lead system modeling, control algorithm development, grid interaction analysis, fault protection design, model-based code development, and hardware-in-the-loop validation for ERL Medium-Voltage Solid-State Transformer (MV SST) programs.
  • •Drive advanced technology realization initiatives by collaborating with internal stakeholders, global ERL teams, and external partners while applying Eaton’s product development processes (Gate Reviews, Design Reviews, Technical Reviews).
  • •Perform technology scouting to assess industry trends, emerging technologies, external partnerships, best practices, and future opportunities to support technology development and long-term business strategies.
  • •Support technology transfer into customized MV SST products and customer applications, collaborating with global ERL teams to transfer control technologies across programs, while providing strategic guidance to business roadmaps.

Key Requirements

  • •Master’s degree with 8+ years of relevant experience, or Ph.D. with 3+ years in power electronics, power conversion systems, controls, medium-voltage applications, or related technologies.
  • •Deep expertise in power electronics controls, including control algorithm development, small-signal modeling, impedance and stability analysis, grid interaction analysis, and system-level performance optimization.
  • •Hands-on experience with power electronics applications across industries, including product design, system architecture development, and medium-voltage power electronics systems.
  • •Proficiency in power electronics topologies (AC/DC, DC/DC, DC/AC, and AC/AC), including design considerations, trade-offs, and control strategies.
  • •Proficiency with power system/grid modeling and power electronics simulation tools (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink, PLECS, pSPICE) and with DSPs, MCUs, and FPGAs for software/firmware development.
