Job Summary

Install, connect, test, and maintain marine interior communication electrical systems, traveling about 50% of the time to support ship installations, updates, and repairs. Work from schematics and controlled work packages while troubleshooting and repairing electrical equipment and cables (including coaxial cable and fiber optic). You’ll operate under close supervision, perform cable removal/installation and component replacement, and ensure work meets quality and safety procedures.

Key Responsibilities

•Install, connect, test, and maintain marine electrical systems for interior communications.
•Troubleshoot, repair, and install electrical equipment and cables, assisting with diagnosing equipment problems.
•Perform removal and installation of cables (overhead, along bulkheads, or under the deck) and repair/replace cables and connectors.
•Layout, fabricate, and install electrical wiring, coaxial cable, or fiber optic onboard Navy vessels, including disconnections/reconnections for complete installations.
•Read and interpret schematics and blueprints and follow controlled work packages and established quality and safety procedures.

Key Requirements

•Obtain/hold DoD Secret clearance and be able to obtain a CAC card (biometric DBIS credential required for government installations).
•Minimum of two years’ experience operating, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems and equipment on-board Navy/Coast Guard/MSC or maritime vessels with practical shipboard HM&E experience.
•Experience troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining electronic equipment in shipboard and shipyard environments.
•Familiarity with Interior Communications (IC) systems such as MC, HYDRA, IVN, IVCN, SATCC, and SIWCS.
•Prior experience with fiber optic cables and multi-pin connectors, including working knowledge of NSI 009-73/NSI 009-25 requirements and safe use of multimeters/megohmmeters.
