Key Responsibilities

  • •Oversee implementation and management of EHS programs to ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and company standards, including annual program reviews and prompt audit follow-up.
  • •Maintain EMS and Smithfield Injury Prevention System (SIPS), and lead Process Safety and Risk Management Programs for ammonia refrigeration.
  • •Manage healthcare and incident handling to reduce workers’ compensation costs, absenteeism, and turnover; review incident investigations and address EHS incident trends with action plans.
  • •Ensure compliance with employee exposure surveys, environmental permit applications, and corrective actions/re-training; monitor and enforce safety programs and environmental permits.
  • •Conduct required training, manage Key Performance Indicators and communicate action plans based on results, and provide leadership through coaching and employee development.

Key Requirements

  • •Bachelor’s degree in the environmental, health and safety field and 5+ years relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • •2+ years of demonstrated experience in team management/development or project leadership.
  • •Thorough knowledge of OSHA regulations, including Process Safety Management requirements for ammonia refrigeration.
  • •Experience with air, water, and waste permitting for an industrial plant setting.
  • •Strong oral and written communication skills for drafting reports, business correspondence, and procedures in English.
