Job Summary

Define and document product deployment use cases and architectures for high-performance optical interconnects across Arista switch and router generations. Partner with Sales and Systems Engineering to educate customers and build web-based configuration tools. Develop Python-based test automation, execute optical/electrical validation for DWDM single and multi-span systems, and collaborate cross-functionally to troubleshoot issues and improve reliability while supporting conference demonstrations.

•Define optical interconnect and switch/router deployment use cases and educate Sales Engineering on deployment configurations.
•Create tools and maintain documentation for valid optical configurations and mixed-rate interconnect scenarios across DWDM technologies.
•Write and maintain Python-based code to automate test flows, control lab instruments, and log results.
•Set up and execute optical/electrical tests to validate DWDM single and multi-span systems and analyze test data to troubleshoot and improve reliability.
•Support conference demonstrations by coordinating configurations, equipment setup/logistics, and supporting materials with PLM and marketing.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: CAD 123,000 - 175,000 annually

Key Requirements

•Master’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, physics, or a related technical field; PhD in photonics and/or MBA is preferred.
•5 years’ experience with optical networking and DWDM design and deployment.
•Strong practical knowledge of Ethernet, DWDM, and coherent optical technologies.
•Hands-on experience with optical test equipment (e.g., OTDR, OSA, BERT, optical power meters, oscilloscopes) and solid troubleshooting skills.
•Experience with traffic generators and network protocol analysis tools (e.g., Wireshark, Ixia, Spirent), plus system testing and scripting (Python, TCL) and/or NPI.
