Job Summary

Lead the architecture, delivery, and people for a domain area within a modernisation programme transforming a high-volume payment processing platform into an event-driven microservices system on AWS. Own technical strategy end-to-end, set architectural direction, and build a high-performing engineering team. Drive iterative production delivery with standards for TDD, contract testing, resilience, observability, and operational readiness. Collaborate with architects and leaders across Dublin and Pune, and embed AI-first engineering into team workflows.

Key Responsibilities

•Own a domain area end-to-end across architecture, technical strategy, delivery, and team with decision-making authority and accountability.
•Set the architectural direction by designing target state and making technology and pattern choices that remain sound and deliverable.
•Build and lead the engineering team, including hiring, developing engineers, and establishing culture where quality and pace coexist.
•Deliver production-quality systems iteratively using an integration-first, incremental approach rather than big-bang releases.
•Drive engineering excellence by setting standards for TDD, contract testing, resilience patterns, observability, and operational readiness.

Key Requirements

•Strong engineering background building and operating distributed systems while remaining technically credible at depth.
•Experience owning architecture and technical strategy—making decisions, setting direction, and standing behind outcomes.
•Track record building and leading engineering teams through hiring and developing engineers and creating a high-performing engineering culture.
•Deep experience with microservices, event-driven architectures, and cloud-native platforms (Kafka, domain-driven design, resilience patterns, Java/Kotlin).
•Experience delivering complex modernisations or platform builds with incremental delivery while legacy remains live.
