Job Summary

Accurately locate and mark Atmos Energy transmission and distribution facilities and service lines by reading system maps and using company procedures to prevent damage. Coordinate with crews, excavators, and municipalities for needed re-marking, investigate natural gas facility damages to determine root causes, and keep maps, records, and reports accurate and compliant. Support safety and encroachment issue resolution, operate assigned vehicles/equipment safely, and may assist other operations when not on damage prevention duties.

Key Responsibilities

•Accurately locate and mark company facilities (transmission & distribution systems, service lines, and other facilities).
•Read and interpret system maps and coordinate with company crews and outside contractors for any needed re-marking.
•Investigate natural gas facility damages to determine root causes.
•Maintain accurate maps, records, and reports to comply with company and regulatory requirements.
•Identify, address, and report safety and encroachment issues; safely operate and inspect assigned company vehicles and equipment; assist other operations functions as needed.

Travel: Medium travel

Key Requirements

•High school diploma or GED and two years of experience in natural gas, damage prevention activities, service, construction and maintenance, and/or pipeline operations.
•Must obtain and maintain minimum Operator Qualifications (OQs) and required classroom training/certifications within six months, and maintain a valid driver’s license.
•Ability to communicate, persuade, and/or influence internal and/or external customers with strong interpersonal skills.
•Ability to use the company’s internet/intranet, take/upload digital photos of marking activity to each line locate ticket, and use systems for data entry, reference, and retrieval.
•Ability to work outdoors in all weather, perform physical tasks including lifting up to 45 pounds, and meet safety-sensitive pre- and post-employment screening requirements (including DOT/PHMSA drug testing and MVR checks).
