Job Summary

Provide strategic and hands-on technical leadership for AI-driven and emerging technology solutions across the SP Energy Networks Centre of Excellence. Lead end-to-end delivery, translating strategic intent into scalable, secure engineering outcomes using DevSecOps practices. Shape architectures and integrations across platforms and data ecosystems, run generative AI/ML trials (including prompt design and responsible AI), and deliver technical assurance with governance across security, privacy, and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

•Lead end-to-end technical delivery of AI and emerging technology solutions, ensuring security, scalability, resilience, and performance.
•Embed DevSecOps practices and ensure seamless integration with SPEN core platforms and data ecosystems.
•Provide technical leadership on modern software engineering practices, integration patterns, cloud services, data platforms, and AI-enabled solutions.
•Lead technology trials and implementations, including generative AI and machine learning-enabled services (prompt design, model integration patterns, automation tooling, responsible AI controls).
•Drive technical assurance across the delivery lifecycle, managing technical risk and ensuring compliance with regulatory, cyber security (e.g., NIS/CAF), and data governance requirements.

Key Requirements

•Over 10 years of progressive experience in software engineering/enterprise architecture/technology leadership across multiple products, systems and/or platforms.
•Significant experience in software engineering, application design and technical leadership, influencing enterprise-wide standards and delivery approaches.
•Strong experience in modern application development and secure systems integration (APIs, event-driven architecture) across platforms and data ecosystems.
•Experience evaluating, designing, or integrating AI-enabled capabilities including generative AI assistants, intelligent automation, search, summarisation, classification, or decision support.
•Knowledge of AI and machine learning lifecycles (data quality, prompt design, model selection, testing, monitoring) and responsible AI principles (privacy, security, bias, governance, human-in-the-loop).
