Key Responsibilities

  • •Lead field operations for protection and control testing and commissioning of Protection and Control systems on high voltage substations.
  • •Perform on-site hands-on protective relay testing and independently execute/validate advanced protection and control testing sequences aligned to standards and client specifications.
  • •Ensure safety and compliance by following safety protocols, leading job hazard analyses, and maintaining quality control and regulatory requirements.
  • •Coordinate with engineers, scientists, subcontractors, and clients; act as primary field liaison to communicate progress, risks, and technical concerns.
  • •Lead field crews and mentor technicians; manage logistics, data collection/reporting, and oversight of tools, materials, and fleet vehicles.

Key Requirements

  • •High school diploma or equivalent.
  • •Minimum of 11 years in the electrical testing industry, including substation protection and controls testing across medium/high voltage equipment.
  • •Demonstrable expertise with transmission, generation, and distribution relays and protective schemes (e.g., SEL, Basler, Beckwith, GE families).
  • •Advanced skills performing protective relay testing and calibration using test sets such as Omicron CMC 256/356 and Doble F6150, including uploading settings to microprocessor relays.
  • •Proficiency with electrical field testing standards and procedures (e.g., NETA, IEEE, NFPA) plus strong safety, documentation, and communication skills.
