Key Responsibilities

  • •Build and ship Next.js by writing production code, reviewing pull requests, and debugging difficult issues in the framework and supporting systems.
  • •Lead major technical initiatives by taking ownership from exploration and architecture through implementation, rollout, and production follow-through.
  • •Set technical direction across rendering, caching, routing, build systems, runtime behavior, and developer tooling.
  • •Improve reliability and developer experience by investigating performance regressions, production failures, and developer pain points and turning insights into framework improvements.
  • •Raise the engineering bar through patterns for code quality, testing, performance, reliability, observability, incremental delivery, and coach engineers via design and code reviews.

Key Requirements

  • •8+ years of software engineering experience, remaining highly effective as a hands-on engineer.
  • •Experience leading engineers or small technical teams as a team lead, tech lead, staff engineer, engineering manager, or founder.
  • •Recent experience writing, reviewing, and shipping production code for complex codebases.
  • •Strong technical judgment across React and Next.js/framework architecture or large-scale open source systems, including rendering, caching, routing, and build tooling.
