Job Summary

Lead delivery of complex transmission and distribution substation projects for WSP Africa’s Energy team, spanning conceptual through detailed design and project execution. Manage multidisciplinary engineering teams and ensure safe, on-time, and on-budget delivery up to 400kV AC, working closely with clients, contractors, stakeholders, and technical specialists. Drive programme management, commercial performance, technical quality, and compliance with IEC, IEEE, SANS, and client standards.

Key Responsibilities

•Manage and lead multidisciplinary engineering teams delivering complex transmission and distribution substation projects up to 400kV AC.
•Support preparation of conceptual/functional designs, specifications, bills of quantity, and tender documents for 11kV to 400kV projects.
•Manage project schedules, budgets, resources, and delivery programmes to complete projects safely, on time, and within budget.
•Ensure engineering deliverables comply with IEC, IEEE, SANS and applicable client standards.
•Coordinate project activities and lead meetings, progress updates, and project reporting including cost estimates and budgets.

Key Requirements

•Degree in Electrical Engineering from an internationally recognised institution.
•15+ years’ experience in transmission and distribution, including substantial experience managing and delivering substation projects.
•Experience managing multidisciplinary engineering teams on complex substation projects up to 400kV AC.
•Knowledge of IEC, IEEE and SANS standards, as well as client-specific requirements where applicable.
•Professional registration with an internationally recognised engineering institution and project management institution.
