Key Responsibilities

  • •Lead and develop the Montreal-based Commercial Controllership team, setting priorities and consistent ways of working.
  • •Partner with stakeholders as the key Montreal contact, enabling decision support and timely issue resolution.
  • •Coordinate monthly, quarterly, and annual commercial financial results and deliver clear analysis and commentary for leadership decisions.
  • •Provide technical accounting advisory support for new commercial initiatives, including complex business arrangements.
  • •Maintain controls and ensure compliance with IFRS, Rio Tinto accounting policies, internal controls, and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOx), including audit and statutory reporting coordination.

Key Requirements

  • •A tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Business, or a related discipline, plus a professional accounting qualification such as CPA, CA, CIMA, or equivalent.
  • •Demonstrated experience in controllership, management and statutory reporting, technical accounting, or a related finance leadership role.
  • •People leadership experience including coaching, developing capability, and fostering a culture grounded in care, courage and curiosity.
  • •Strong knowledge of IFRS, financial controls, SOx requirements, and applying accounting policy to complex or non-standard commercial arrangements.
  • •Fluency in French and English (written and spoken) with demonstrated ability to coordinate monthly, quarterly and annual results and influence senior stakeholders.
