Location: Sunnyvale
Workplace: Hybrid
Employment Type: Full time
Job Function: Software Engineering
Seniority: Mid level

Key Responsibilities

  • •Set the multi-generation architecture and roadmap for Cerebras scale-up networks and their interfaces to scale-out and customer-facing networks.
  • •Work with cross-layer teams to understand mapping and communication choices and derive required bandwidth, latency, ordering, availability, and serviceability.
  • •Define fabric topology, protocols, and switch behavior (routing, buffering, flow control, reliability, fault containment) and connect data-plane choices to system behavior.
  • •Decide when to use standards-based technology versus custom protocol/switch/link/offload designs.
  • •Use performance models, traffic simulation, prototypes, and lab data to test architecture choices and set acceptance criteria; write specs and lead design reviews through implementation and qualification.

Key Requirements

  • •Translate communication and workload behavior into measurable fabric requirements for low-latency scale-up networks.
  • •Collaborate across application, compiler, runtime, and communication-library teams to derive bandwidth, latency, ordering, availability, and serviceability needs.
  • •Define fabric topology, protocols, and switch behavior, including routing, buffering, flow control, reliability, and fault containment.
  • •Make architectural decisions on when to use standards-based or routable technology versus custom protocols, switching, links, or offload.
  • •Ground architectural judgment in prior low-level implementation, modeling, bring-up, or debugging; write specifications and guide prototypes through qualification.
