Key Responsibilities

  • •Interpret geotechnical monitoring data (radars, prisms, GPS, downhole instruments) to assess slope deformation and stability.
  • •Conduct field inspections to identify geotechnical hazards, evaluate slope conditions, and confirm hazard management controls.
  • •Perform 3D slope stability and failure calibration modeling and runout analysis to inform slope control design.
  • •Deliver geotechnical design reviews and engineering recommendations for slope performance and hazard mitigation.
  • •Manage geotechnical projects (scope, scheduling, budgets, and consultant oversight) and communicate monitoring interpretations and risk assessments to internal teams and external reviewers.

Key Requirements

  • •Bachelor’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering/Geological Engineering/Mining Engineering/Civil Engineering/Geology (or related) and 10 years of progressively responsible geotechnical engineering experience, or a Master’s degree with 7 years.
  • •7 years’ experience using slope monitoring systems (radars, prisms, GPS, and downhole instrumentation) and interpreting slope monitoring data with structural geology and rock mass characterization.
  • •7 years’ experience performing rock mass characterization (including GSI evaluation) and rock/soil mechanics laboratory testing for geotechnical data.
  • •5 years’ experience conducting geotechnical design reviews and slope runout analysis using DAN3D and Fahrböschung.
  • •6 years’ experience in an open pit mine environment, plus 3D stability modeling/failure mechanism analysis using Rocscience and FLAC3D.
