Key Responsibilities

  • •Design and build the events-first observability foundation, including the wide-event data model and high-throughput ingest, storage, and query pipelines.
  • •Create SDKs and “golden paths” by designing and shipping instrumentation libraries, shared SDKs, and defaults that drive telemetry adoption.
  • •Set instrumentation standards for naming, tagging, sampling, and context propagation on OpenTelemetry so humans and machines share one language.
  • •Build the fast query foundation and access patterns (including MCP) to help AI agents investigate incidents and operate in tight feedback loops.
  • •Use AI coding tools to prototype and navigate large systems, mentor senior engineers, and lead cross-team technical initiatives through influence.

Key Requirements

  • •Significant software engineering experience, typically 8+ years, building platforms and tools with strong design/testing rigor.
  • •Hands-on, current coding experience in more than one language, including Kotlin and Ruby, with meaningful production code ownership.
  • •Direct experience building observability or telemetry platforms and their SDKs, including instrumentation libraries and shared pipelines.
  • •Depth in event-based, high-cardinality systems, including wide structured events and tradeoffs of ingesting/querying telemetry at scale.
  • •Hands-on fluency with OpenTelemetry (or equivalent) plus SLI/SLO design, and strong communication and influence.
