Key Responsibilities

  • •Design, build, and operate Cognite’s core serverless execution engine and workflows orchestration layer that power AI and automation primitives.
  • •Own uptime and latency SLOs and lead incident response for platform services to ensure deterministic function execution and reliable workflow progress.
  • •Architect for scalability across multi-tenant and multi-cloud high-throughput workloads, including scheduling, queueing, and retry mechanisms.
  • •Define and evolve API-first architecture with versioned REST and event-driven APIs used by internal teams and external customers.
  • •Implement observability, CI/CD, and testing practices: distributed tracing, structured logging, alerting, and unit/integration/smoke tests to ship production safely.

Key Requirements

  • •10+ years of experience building and operating production backend services at scale.
  • •Deep mastery of JVM languages (Kotlin preferred, Java acceptable) and Python (FastAPI) for cloud-native distributed systems.
  • •Expertise in distributed systems patterns and cloud-native service design using Kubernetes and major clouds (Azure, GCP, AWS) or private cloud.
  • •Hands-on experience with workflow engines (Conductor, Apache Airflow, or equivalent) and event-driven architectures (Kafka, Pub/Sub).
  • •Comfort working with relational and non-relational data stores (PostgreSQL, data-lakes/object storage, caching like Redis) in multi-tenant environments.
