Job Summary

Build and operate Pyroscope, the open-source continuous profiling database behind Grafana Cloud Profiles. Lead end-to-end projects spanning distributed ingestion, storage, and query—improving read-path efficiency, trace-to-profile correlation, autoscaling, and onboarding. Partner with other Grafana squads (App Observability, Alloy, Tempo) to make profiles useful across engineering workflows, while owning reliability via SLOs and EMEA on-call. Contribute to Pyroscope’s open-source roadmap.

•Lead projects from concept to rollout, including design, delivery, operations, and customer follow-up.
•Design, build, and operate core components of a distributed database for ingestion, storage, and query with trade-offs across performance, cost, and complexity.
•Drive operational excellence by owning outcomes against SLOs and unit cost targets, reducing toil via automation, and improving incident outcomes.
•Partner across Grafana squads to make profiles useful wherever engineers work.
•Participate in EMEA on-call for the services you build and treat incident response and post-incident learning as part of the craft.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: EUR 104,000 - 124,800 annually

Key Requirements

•Experience with a systems programming language; Pyroscope is written in Go, and experience with other languages (e.g., Rust, C, C++, Python, Java) is valued.
•Build and operate distributed systems in production, including multi-tenant, performance- and cost-sensitive services.
•Strong product sense: can translate customer pain points into deliverables without a dedicated PM.
•Write clean, robust, high-performance software and know when to optimize versus ship.
•Operational mindset: experience with pager/SRE-style work and treating reliability as a feature.
