Key Responsibilities

  • •Coordinate scheduling of outgoing freight and personal property to meet customer delivery requirements.
  • •Select appropriate carriers and shipment modes based on customer requirements and provide alternate methods upon request.
  • •Prepare shipping documents for domestic and international shipments, including accurate dangerous/hazardous material documentation.
  • •Maintain automated shipment records, processed invoices, and costs, and develop transportation statistical reports with charts.
  • •Initiate claim actions on damaged freight and complete required shipment reports for unrecorded losses or damage acknowledged by the transporter bill of lading.

Key Requirements

  • •Associate's degree and 1 year of experience, or 3 years of equivalent experience without a degree.
  • •Acquire active dangerous goods shipment certifications covering 49 CFR Parts 100-185 and IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations (DGR) (training provided if selected).
  • •U.S. Citizenship required and ability to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information; dual citizenship may preclude access.
  • •Pass a background investigation and be granted access/clearance to Marshall Space Flight Center, including passing a drug test.
  • •Proficient writing and effective verbal communication, with working knowledge of Microsoft Office and database management systems.
