Job Summary

Fabricate, weld, and repair mechanical and structural components to keep mining equipment safe and reliable. Work on site assets such as crushers, conveyors, chutes, mobile equipment, tanks, and piping, following engineering plans and technical specifications. Support preventive and corrective maintenance by assisting mechanical disassembly/reassembly. Follow strict hot-work and LOTO safety protocols, maintain welding equipment and job records, and participate in risk assessments and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

•Perform welding, fabrication, and assembly on site equipment and structures (e.g., crushers, conveyors, chutes, mobile equipment, tanks, piping) following technical plans and specifications.
•Carry out cutting, grinding, fitting, and metal piece mounting, and ensure welding/fabrication quality against established standards.
•Support preventive and corrective maintenance by participating in mechanical equipment disassembly and reassembly during repairs or maintenance.
•Strictly follow safety protocols, including hot-work permits and LOTO procedures, and promptly report defects, hazards, or non-conformities.
•Maintain welding equipment, organize consumables, keep work records up to date, and participate in toolbox talks, risk assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Requirements

•Hold a technical certificate or a diploma in welding and heavy fabrication.
•Have 3 to 5 years of experience as a welder/fabricator in mining, construction, or heavy industry.
•Be certified in welding processes (MMAW and MIG) and know applicable standards; confined spaces and working at heights training is an asset.
•Can read and interpret engineering plans and welding symbols, and perform welding, cutting, and fabrication on different metals; mechanical maintenance and heavy structure repair experience is desired.
•Be able to work in an isolated mining environment with rotating shift schedules and demonstrate strong safety and teamwork practices.
