Job Summary

Design and integrate robotic hardware for autonomous mining and construction machinery, turning Formula Student experience into real production-scale field work. You’ll mount and calibrate sensors (LiDAR, radar, cameras, IMUs), design rugged wire harnesses and connector systems, develop the hardware layer connecting actuators and control units, and troubleshoot power, EMI, and signal integrity in the field. Work closely with software to deliver an end-to-end autonomy system from concept to manufacturable hardware.

Key Responsibilities

•Integrate robotic sensors (LiDAR, radar, cameras, IMUs) onto real machines, including mounting, wiring, calibration, and data acquisition.
•Design mechanical integration of sensors and compute for harsh environments with dust, mud, and vibration.
•Own wire harness and connector design using rugged industrial/automotive components.
•Develop and validate the hardware layer connecting actuators, sensors, and control units.
•Troubleshoot in the field and take designs from concept through prototyping, testing, and into manufacturable hardware.

Key Requirements

•Formula Student experience in electronics, LV/HV systems, harness design, sensor integration, or vehicle assembly; driverless team experience is a plus.
•Bachelor's or Master's degree (completed or nearing completion) in Electrical/Mechanical/Mechatronics Engineering, Robotics, or a related field.
•Proficiency in CAD tools for mechanical or electrical design, with prototyping experience including 3D printing.
•Working knowledge of embedded systems, microcontrollers, and protocols like CAN, I2C, or SPI (CAN especially).
•Hands-on experience with connectors and wiring to ensure electronics survive vibration and weather.
