Job Summary

Lead the creation and operation of SMBC's Infrastructure Security Operations, owning vulnerability management, patching, and platform hardening across all infrastructure. This hands-on leadership role will build a function from inception, initially guiding contractors and maturing to a lean permanent team, partnering with IT Risk and central security to meet regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

•Establish and lead the Infrastructure Security Operations function within Technology Infrastructure, owning end-to-end vulnerability management across all infrastructure platforms and defining a risk-based patching strategy.
•Build and mature processes, governance, and reporting; drive automation across patching and reporting to improve security posture.
•Collaborate with infrastructure architecture, engineering, platform and SRE teams to implement hardening standards, embed security remediation into BAU operations, and balance security with operational resilience.
•Lead the operation of key infrastructure security technologies (including firewalls, SSE and micro-segmentation) and build reporting/assurance frameworks for senior stakeholders.
•Align with IT Risk and central security, ensuring compliance with internal standards and regulatory requirements (DORA, ECB and PRA) and contribute to incident response and post-incident reviews where vulnerabilities are a factor.

•Proven experience in infrastructure security, vulnerability management, or infrastructure engineering within a complex enterprise environment.
•Strong understanding of infrastructure platforms including compute, virtualization, storage, and networking, with ability to design and implement patching and remediation at scale.
•Experience designing and implementing patch management and vulnerability remediation frameworks at scale.
•Demonstrated ability to operate in regulated environments, ideally within financial services.
•Experience working in alignment with a central security / CISO function, executing against defined policies and controls.
