Key Responsibilities

  • •Partner with business stakeholders and draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements across index licensing, data subscription/distribution, inbound data and technology, custom calculation services, web-based services, and consulting relationships.
  • •Provide regulatory interpretation and guidance to the business on UK and European financial regulations, monitoring developments across BMR, UCITS, MiFID II, DORA, and GDPR.
  • •Support engagement with policy and supervisory teams, including responding to regulatory consultations, preparing submissions, and liaising with the FCA, ESMA, and other regulators.
  • •Advise sales and other teams (including shared services groups) on legal risk and business-oriented solutions for complex index licensing and related products.
  • •Support corporate governance and Compliance initiatives, including board/committee support, governance frameworks, confidentiality/insider trading/compliance policies, and RFPs, due diligence, and audits.

Key Requirements

  • •Qualified solicitor or barrister in England and Wales, or equivalent European jurisdiction qualification.
  • •4–7 years’ post-qualification legal experience, including meaningful in-house experience in a financial services institution.
  • •Strong commercial contracts experience negotiating and drafting complex agreements.
  • •Solid understanding of UK and/or European financial services regulation (including BMR, UCITS, and MiFID II/MiFIR).
  • •Experience interpreting regulation and providing clear, practical guidance to business stakeholders.
