Key Responsibilities

  • •Respond to emergency scenes including fire, medical incidents, sprinkler discharges, elevator emergencies, hazardous materials, and other incidents.
  • •Arrive on scene, conduct scene size-up, and relay information to the central dispatch center.
  • •Perform rescue procedures including machinery extrication and high/low angle rescue.
  • •Conduct fire suppression using fire apparatus, hydrants, and portable or wheeled fire extinguishers.
  • •Respond to hazardous materials emergencies with spill containment, provide medical assessment/stabilization and transport, perform triage during mass casualty incidents, and prepare required logs and reports.

Key Requirements

  • •N.F.P.A. Firefighter 1 and 2.
  • •Hazardous Materials Awareness and Operations Level certifications.
  • •National Registry or State of Indiana EMT or Paramedic certification.
  • •Out-of-state certifications must be transferable to Indiana and completed within 90 days of hire.
  • •Able to meet and maintain applicable state, county, and local EMT or Paramedic certification requirements.
