Job Summary

Lead Airwallex’s US Spend engineering organization, owning the technical strategy and architectural roadmap across corporate cards, expense management, and spend workflows. Drive delivery quality, engineering excellence, and team growth across multiple squads while mentoring engineering leaders. Partner with Product, Design, and Commercial teams to translate business strategy into technical execution, and help shape agentic finance to automate tasks across expense submission, approval, and reconciliation.

Key Responsibilities

•Lead the Expenses sub-domain, owning vision, delivery, and roadmap with local product teams.
•Evolve the Spend domain’s technical architecture with other engineering managers, maturing the platform through data engineering, AI, and analytics.
•Scale the US engineering team and provide technical mentorship as new squads are established.
•Drive operational excellence by setting OKRs, optimizing delivery processes, and ensuring high-quality results across concurrent projects.
•Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Design, Commercial, and engineering leads; own talent acquisition strategy for the domain in San Francisco.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 200,000 - 300,000 annually

•10+ years in software engineering with 5+ years in engineering leadership (Engineering Manager, Director, or equivalent).
•Proven people management experience, including managing managers or engineering leads and scaling high-performing teams.
•Strong product thinking and partnership with Product Management to define roadmaps, prioritize delivery, and drive business outcomes.
•Deep technical fluency in software architecture and system design for large-scale, complex distributed systems.
•Ability to thrive in fast-paced, high-growth environments with an ownership and speed mindset.
