Job Summary

Oversee and govern Affirm’s Privacy compliance program as part of the company’s second line of defense. Translate U.S. privacy and international regulatory requirements into policies, standards, and control expectations, then independently monitor and challenge first-line teams. Lead governance for DSAR, DPIA, consent, and retention processes; oversee breach response governance, risk registers, audit/regulatory support, and privacy governance reporting while partnering closely with Legal, Product, Engineering, and Operations.

Key Responsibilities

•Provide oversight of Affirm’s Privacy compliance program across jurisdictions, with primary focus on U.S. requirements and alignment to global privacy obligations.
•Translate Legal guidance and regulatory requirements into privacy policies, standards, and control expectations for first-line teams.
•Maintain privacy governance frameworks for DSAR (processes/SLAs), DPIA governance/documentation, consent and preference management, and data retention/deletion.
•Partner with Product and Engineering to advise on and review privacy control design and implementation while maintaining second-line independence.
•Oversee governance of privacy incidents and breaches, maintain privacy risk registers, support audits/regulatory examinations, and produce privacy monitoring/governance reporting for management and risk committees.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 146,000 - 225,000 annually

Key Requirements

•6–10+ years of experience in privacy compliance, regulatory compliance, risk management, or a related control function, preferably in financial services/fintech or a regulated environment.
•Strong understanding of U.S. privacy laws (CCPA/CPRA, GLBA) and familiarity with international regimes (GDPR, UK GDPR).
•Experience operating within a second-line of defense model, including governance, oversight, and independent challenge of first-line control environments.
•Ability to translate regulatory requirements into policies, standards, and control expectations (without direct control ownership or legal interpretation).
•Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience; relevant certifications (CIPP, CIPM) are a plus.
