Key Responsibilities

  • •Drive security engineering across Hummingbird’s infrastructure, helping lead security posture efforts.
  • •Manage vulnerability and dependency tooling and design/enforce security controls to keep AWS hardened and audit-ready.
  • •Collaborate with a small remote team of senior engineers to build and ship security improvements.
  • •Develop a threat intelligence program connecting external threat landscapes to internal risks, including incident response and disaster recovery.
  • •Influence overall architecture and hosting strategy and help grow into leadership as the company expands.

Key Requirements

  • •7+ years of experience, including 3–5 years in a dedicated security engineering role (Security Engineer, AppSec Engineer, or equivalent), preferably with startup experience.
  • •Deep problem-solving to determine root cause and best solutions.
  • •Comfort working across the infrastructure layer with Terraform and AWS, including network security, encryption, access controls, and architecture.
  • •Ability to work through ambiguity and iterate on solutions.
  • •Bonus: Experience in the financial sector, especially around compliance or fraud.
