Key Responsibilities

  • •Produce carbon prototype structures quickly in-house, selecting the fastest viable prototyping route and iterating with design engineers in short loops.
  • •Build, maintain, and coordinate moulds and tooling; machine or 3D-print mould masters and prepare/polish mould surfaces.
  • •Design and build layup jigs, trimming templates, and bonding/assembly fixtures; manage composite workshop consumables and material inventory.
  • •Read and interpret 2D/3D drawings and ply books, model simple parts/tooling in CAD when needed, and produce and maintain manufacturing drawings.
  • •Support assembly and mechanical testing and drive process/quality improvements; write procedures and train production operators for repeatable handover to series.

Key Requirements

  • •Technical diploma or degree in composite materials, mechanical/aerospace manufacturing, industrial technology, or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • •Proven rapid in-house composite prototyping experience (carbon/glass fibre), including hand layup, vacuum bagging, infusion and/or prepreg; mould making and surface preparation are a strong plus.
  • •Ability to read and control layup orientation, resin ratios, debulking and cure cycles using drawings and ply books with rigor and traceability.
  • •Ability to produce manufacturing drawings (2D plans) and own technical documentation for fabrication procedures, ply books, and cure logs.
  • •Hands-on finishing skills for composites (trimming, sanding, drilling, structural bonding, insert fitting) plus basic defect detection; CAD literacy (Fusion 360, SolidWorks, FreeCAD or similar).
